Kids who can cook better than me Masterchef Junior edition.

I have been watching Masterchef all the way up to season 3. However I discovered a new version entitled MasterChef Junior. This is a show where Kids between 8-13 battle it out in a state of the art kitchen to win a Masterchef trophy and the title Masterchef junior. You would not expect any kid the age of 13 or eight or anywhere in between to be able to produce anything remotely restaurant quality. That is not the case with these kids I just finished watching the first episode. The judges Chef Gordon Ramsay, Graham Elliot and Joe Bastianich scoured the country to find the best kid home cooks. And they did surprise me the rules for Masterchef Junior addition or otherwise are simple you can't have any actual training no college no University in the culinary area. You have to be a home cook with no formal training whatsoever. Needless to say I couldn't or wouldn't be able to tell any real difference with these kids. They throughout the entire show produced excellent dishes that are on par with any chef of any age anywhere.

During the intro to the show one of the kids states and I quote "In the 10 years I have been here on earth I have never done anything this exciting" I agree I am with you kid the show is exciting in fact I can't wait for the next episode. So directly after the announcement and a few mini interviews the judges announce that some of the kids will be eliminated. The first eight kids are chosen to cook individually their own seafood dish among the choices are fresh Chilean sea bass Dungeness crab, muscles, abalone muscles, osetra caviar, Loup, Demer, geoduck, black muscles, squid, octopus, green muscles, baby octopus, king salmon, tuna, lackluster, black tiger shrimp, Kumamoto oyster, needle fish, red snapper, cod scallops. I had never even seen half this stuff before culinary school and some of it not even then. These kids can't even reach the middle shelves in the pantry which they get to choose a basketful of ingredients to go along with a dish.

So let's get to the dishes that they cooked Sofia age 12 up first she made a Chilean sea bass with wilted spinach and baby eggplant almond encrusted curry yogurt sauce topped with pomegranates and roasted almonds. I would hate to be against this kid and oddly enough all three of the judges loved it. The next kid Roen age 12 he cooked Seared AHI Tuna with salmon avocado and cucumber roll basically Japanese food but is dish looks amazing. Graham Elliot doubted he could make sushi that well I agree it was pretty awesome. The next kid I was impressed with made seared scallops with vegetable fried rice his dish looked amazing as well. Next up Molly who is 12 she made everything from scratch she made fish tacos with homemade tortillas all three judges were impressed. The second bout of eight kids are chosen to cook individually their own pasta dish within 60 minutes everything from scratch. The challenges presented by Joe and he's full-blooded Italian. However I really don't like Italian that much so if we can fast-forward to the dishes are the most impressive ones from the kids in the third round we have a dessert challenge and among these are Pistachio Macaroons and Vanilla Dulce De Leche I've never had a Macaroon before but I love pistachios so he is a winner in my book. An interesting one was the lemon mint cupcake surprise which Joe agreed was a restaurant quality and had a very sophisticated flavor. You should definitely check this show out!
